The confectionery is a family-run business, now run by the third and fourth generations, who continue the tradition of making traditional Scottish sweets like Chelsea Whoppers, Loch Lomond Tablet, Creamola Foam and Macaroon to name a few of their Scottish sweet delights.

The Chelsea Whopper was bought by the McCandlish family in the mid 80’s, who have been operating the McCandlish Farmhouse Confectionery (now known as MrMacSweets) for multiple generations, with the founder Allan McCandlish being the creator of many of the family’s iconic sweets, including the MB Bars, Loch Lomond Tablet, as well as reviving some of the older traditional sweets such as Coulters Candy, Spanish Gold (Sweet Tobacco), Lucky Tatties and many more. The company have been producing Scottish confectionery since 1962.

The McCandlish family runs a traditional Scottish confectionery and chocolate business, McCandlish Farmhouse Confectionery Ltd – now branded as Mr Mac Sweets, located in Helensburgh.
Allan McCandlish’s Creations:
Allan McCandlish was the founder of the business along with his mother Agnes McCandlish and his wife Aileen McCandlish, and Allan created many of the company’s famous products.
Inherited Tradition:
His daughter, Agnes Gough (nee McCandlish), and other family members continue the tradition, with Agnes working alongside him for many years and inheriting his passion for creating traditional sweets.
